712 | and she-being-justified. Hebrew וְנֹכָֽחַת. Niphal Participle verb Feminine singular. From yakach (#3198) to decide, reason with, correct, adjudge, prove. This is where the NT concept of justification comes from. It has to do with proving oneself or another right. Here it is a participle in the Niphal form which is a passive (reflexive) verb which means Hagar is being justified. The same verb form appears here in the plural reflexive, “Walk, now, and let ourselves reason [yachach], is saying Yahweh. If they are becoming the misses of yourselves like scarlet-worm, like the Snow they are causing to whiten. If they cause to be red like the Maggot-worm, like wool they are becoming.” Isaiah 1:18 literal It’s as though Elohim is speaking as “Us” again just as he did in Genesis 1:26… |
