Circumcise out from the Foreskin of the Fathers, not Moses
Across the other side to this one, Drawn Out ("Moses") has given to yourselves the Circum-cision79 not that it is from the Drawn Out ("Moses"), but from out of the Fathers, and within the Inner Cessation you are cutting-around [circumcise] a man.
Remove the foreskin of the "law". "Drawn out" is the meaning of the name "Moses". Put another way, draw out the sword from its sheath.
Moses has given you circumcision; (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and in the sabbath ye circumcise a man.
Because of this Moses has given you circumcision; (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers); and on a sabbath, you circumcise a man.
Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.
Footnotes
79 | Strong's NT #4059 περιτέμνω. to cut around. The word "circumcision" is a compound word consisting of the Latin prefix "circum-" and the root "cision." Circum-: This prefix comes from the Latin word "circum," meaning "around" or "about." It indicates a sense of "around" or "about" in relation to the root word. -cision: This suffix comes from the Latin root "cisio," derived from the verb "caedere," meaning "to cut" or "to incise." The suffix "-cision" denotes an action or process of cutting. When combined, "circum-" and "-cision" form the word "circumcision," which literally means "cutting around" or "cutting around the foreskin." |
