Matthew 18:6
ὃς δ᾽ ἂν σκανδαλίσῃ ἕνα τῶν μικρῶν τούτων τῶν πιστευόντων εἰς ἐμέ, συμφέρει αὐτῷ ἵνα κρεμασθῇ μύλος ὀνικὸς εἰς τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ, καὶ καταποντισθῇ ἐν τῷ πελάγει τῆς θαλάσσης.

RBT Hebrew Literal:
The Scandal
But whoever should scandalize one of the Little Ones of these, the ones who trust into myself, he is carrying together to himself so that a millstone of an ass37a should be hung around the Neck of himself and he be sunk within the High Sea/Deep of the Sea.
Head first
Julia Smith Literal 1876 Translation:
And whoever should offend one of these little ones believing in me, it is profitable for him that the millstone of an ass be hung upon his neck, and he be sunk in the midst of the sea.
And whoever should offend one of these little ones believing in me, it is profitable for him that the millstone of an ass be hung upon his neck, and he be sunk in the midst of the sea.
LITV Translation:
But whoever causes one of these little ones believing in Me to offend, it is better for him that a millstone turned by an ass be hung on his neck, and he be sunk in the depth of the sea.
But whoever causes one of these little ones believing in Me to offend, it is better for him that a millstone turned by an ass be hung on his neck, and he be sunk in the depth of the sea.
ESV Translation:
but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
Footnotes
37a | The adjective ὀν-ῐκός, -ή, -όν (derived from ὄνυξ, "onyx") typically means "made of onyx" or "pertaining to onyx." However, in certain contexts, it can also mean "of or for an ass" or "related to an ass." For example, μύλος ὀ. refers to a mill for an ass, where an ass may turn the millstone, and ὀ. κτήνη refers to livestock of or for asses. The suffix -ῐκός denotes a relationship, purpose, or function, and here it implies something associated with or intended for use by an ass. |
