ἐναντίος - in anti, opposite
And the Ship now at length many stadium-tracks away from the Earth, holding back one which is being touchstone-tormented below the Waves, for the Wind was opposed.

But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
