Luke 15:7
Footnote:
57 | The conjunction ἢ, while most often disjunctive ("or"), also serves a comparative function, meaning "than" or "rather than" after expressions of difference or preference. In Luke 15:7, it contrasts the heavenly joy over one misser/sinner changing his mind with that over ninety-nine righteous who have no need of a mind change, and thus is rendered "rather than." See Smyth, Greek Grammar, §2863. |
