John 14:6
Footnote:
104a | Greek #1223 δι’ ἐμοῦ. This is the preposition διά "across completely" "through to the other side". The genitive and accusative seemed to be mixed, but the expressions of "across from," "across through," "across to" etc. all stem from this word. The rendering could perhaps be more accurately "by means of me" if the author intends to be more abstract. But even this is still not a genitive sense but a dative one. This happens very frequently with the genitive case. διὰ τὸν λόγον "across/through the Word" in John 15:3 is in the accusative. These cases are not thoughtless, nor insignificant. |
