1260 | Hebrew יֶשְׁךָ֛ yesh + 2nd masc. sing. The word for exist is apparently being used as a verb in the same way the word for naught/nothing is, אַיִן ayin . BDB writes, “In Hebrew the corresponding negative is אַיִן, q. v., the construction of which is quite similar) — is, are, was, were, etc., not, however, as a mere copula, but implying existence with emphasis…” Emphasis is important to bring out in a text. |
