And he is in her bearing, and he is giving a hand, and the One-who-bears is taking and is tying1205 upon his hand a scarlet-one,1206 to say, `This one has gone out a first one.`

LITV Translation:
And in her bearing, it happened that one put forth a hand, and the midwife took it and tied crimson on his hand, saying, This one came out first.
ESV Translation:
And when she was in labor, one put out a hand, and the midwife took and tied a scarlet thread on his hand, saying, “This one came out first.”
Brenton Septuagint Translation:
And it came to pass as she was bringing forth, one thrust forth his hand, and the midwife having taken hold of it, bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This one shall come out first.
