No More Delay

And the days of Delay are becoming five duplications, and a dual hundred of a duplication, and Delay is dying in Burnt.

LITV Translation:
And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.

ESV Translation:
The days of Terah were 205 years, and Terah died in Haran.

Brenton Septuagint Translation:
And all the days of Terah in the land of Haran were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.

This story is quite the enigma. We read that Delays’s builder Haran (Mountaineer) is dying against the faces of Delay in Flame of the Magicians in verse 28. We read of no place built by Mountaineer and Mountaineer is dying in the place he was born, his fatherland.

In verse 31 we read, “they are coming in until Mountain, and sit there. The word ad עַד־ is a preposition referring almost always to time in the Torah, i.e. “until morning” Ex. 29:34, “until this day” Gen. 32:32, “until evening” Lev. 11:31, “until a month of days” Num. 11:20, “until they are consumed” Deut. 2:15, “smote until no was left” Deut. 3:3.

Stephen’s “error” is one of a “misplacement” of things according to a western understanding of time. Stephen spoke, “God appeared to Father-of-Multitude before his sitting [abiding] in Haran [Burnt]…Then having come forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, he sat [abode] in Burnt Land, and from thence, after [meta – with] the death of his father, He did remove him…” Acts 7:2-4 YLT.
